Asus Zenbook Pro UX550VD, a solid option in range of premium laptops. The device is not very affordable but has a good value considering it’s price and performance ratio. Design & Display
The design of the device is more rounded at the corners, feels quite smooth and premium. It is lighter, compact and easy to grip on that makes it up-to-date in today’s trendy laptop competition. The textured metal is attractive to look with it’s concentric pattern. The lid and keyboard is not so sturdy, there’s slight flex in it. The keyboard doesn’t feels very tactile and is mushy as it has very less key travel, but the backlit and spacious design makes it overall average to use. The webcam is not great, if truly said it’s far behind other laptops webcams because of the VGA camera selection from Asus.
Looking to the display, it is a gorgeous LED-backlit touch(10 point multi-touch) display with just 7.3 mm bezel that makes 83% screen to body ratio. The 4K(3840?2160) resolution with 100% sRGB, 72% NTSC and 282 pixels per inch makes the Zenbook Pro, a pro in the display category of premium laptops. The viewing angle(178 degree) is also great, so there will be no issue in seeing anything, no matter how much tilted the screen is.
RAM & Storage
Asus Zenbook Pro UX550VD comes with two memory options, 8 and 16 GB of DDR4(2400 Mhz) memory that will hold up most of the work hurled at it. It does not have expandable memory option, but the given memory will provide enough power to perform casual work such as browsing, editing documents or watching multimedia and some 1080p games. It comes with 1TB PCIe SSD that is a great storage option with it’s ultra-fast speed and enough storage. If you will go for less expensive models, you will get 512 GB PCIe or even 256 GB and 512 GB SATA3 SSD.

On to the processor, it comes with two different options, Intel i7-7700HQ(6 MB cache) quad-core processor with 2.8 GHz base clock speed and 3.8 GHz of turbo boost and another one is i5-7300HQ(6 MB) quad-core with 2.5 GHz base clock speed and 3.5 GHz of turbo boost. The performance from both of them is quite good and will surely provide you enough power for heavy tasks.

The Zenbook Pro is packed with Nvidia GeForce 1050 GPU that has 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM that makes it a powerhouse for video effects, 3D work and some gaming. With specs that rivals some gaming laptops you will able to play heavy games like Witcher 3, Far Cry 4, Tomb Raider and Bio Shock Infinite at 1080p high smoothly and at FHD high to some extent with lower fps rate.
The device has got plenty of ports for all your inputs but lacks a full size SD card reader. It has got 2 ? USB 3.1 TYPE-C, 2 ? USB TYPE-A 3.1, a HDMI, a Combo Audio jack, a micro SD card reader and 3.5 mm headphone jack. It has no Ethernet port but Asus has provided a USB to RJ-45 adapter in the box that will be really helpful. Connectivity wise it has dual band WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.2.
The quad speakers with two smart amplifiers gives loud and surround sound experience. Speakers are Harman Kardon certified and are far more the best in the segment. Two of the speakers are at the front on the sides of keyboard and other two underside the laptop that fills your surrounding with punchy, loud, clear and zero distortion sound even at maximum volume.
Huge 73 Wh battery gives enough backup for 14 hours which is great for your needs. With great performance, Asus has provided great battery with which you will be able maximize your work hours to great extent. It has fast charging capability 60% in 49 min with it’s heavy 120 Wh power brick that’s a good option to get, so you will not have to worry about charging it for 2-3 hours to get some work from it.
